MIRA Trial: Privacy Notice and Terms of Use

1. Why we built MIRA

The Australian STI Management Guidelines for Use in Primary Care are detailed and updated often. Finding the right answer at the point of care takes time. MIRA gives you faster, more direct access to guideline content through plain questions. This trial tests whether MIRA supports clinical practice reliably before any wider release.

2. How MIRA works

MIRA uses a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) model. It searches the Australian STI Management Guidelines for Use in Primary Care for relevant content, then generates an answer grounded in that content. MIRA is restricted to these guidelines. It does not answer from general medical knowledge or external sources. Because MIRA generates language, it can still produce errors, miss context, or misread a question. MIRA does not replace clinical judgement. You remain responsible for all clinical decisions and must verify answers against the current guidelines.

3. This is a trial product

MIRA is under active development. Responses may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Features and availability may change or stop without notice during the trial.

4. What we collect

When you use MIRA, we collect and store:

• The text of the questions you submit.
• Usage metadata, including timestamps, session identifiers, and device information.

5. Do not enter patient or personal details

Do not enter patient names, dates of birth, addresses, Medicare numbers, or any other detail that could identify a patient or other individual. Do not enter your own sensitive personal information.

We apply an automated process to de-identify patient information and other identifiable data when queries are ingested into our systems. This is a safeguard, not a guarantee. It may not catch every identifier. Keeping identifying details out of your queries in the first place remains your responsibility and protects the people in your care.

6. How we use your queries

We use your queries and metadata to:

• Evaluate how accurately and reliably MIRA answers questions.
• Identify gaps, errors, and failure patterns.
• Improve the model and the underlying system during and after the trial.

We do not use your queries for marketing. We do not sell your data.

7. Who can access your data

Access to stored queries is restricted to the ASHM digital team responsible for developing and evaluating MIRA. We do not share query data with external parties for their own purposes.

8. How long we keep your data

We retain query data and associated usage metadata for 90 days from the date of collection. After this period, we securely delete or further de-identify the data. We may retain de-identified data, which is no longer personal information, for ongoing analysis and model improvement.

9. Your privacy rights

The Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles govern how we handle your personal information. You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, request access to it, and ask us to correct or delete it. 10. Your acceptance
